By late 2006, Swedish MVNO Halebop has grown to become the largest MVNO and the fourth largest operator in the country. With a youthful image and competitive offers, it has attracted a large number of very active communicators of all ages.
Although Halebop currently holds an enviable position in the Swedish market, it was not a position easily achieved. When Halebop began its operations in 2002, it entered a market with one of the highest penetration rates in the world and an on-going price war between existing operators. Even the established operators had problems maintaining their profit margins, and to make matters worse Halebop lacked an established subscriber base.
However, by continuously launching new offers and compelling services Halebop has managed to increase its number of subscribers without undercutting competitors' prices, a strategy still followed to this day. Jens Moser, Product Manager at Halebop says: “Things happen every single day, and we need to act fast to attract and retain customers. Being able to launch new services and configure new offers quickly is of vital importance to us.”
In February 2005, Halebop migrated all of their customers from its legacy system to the Symsoft Charging System, improving their ability to launch new services and design attractive offers.
Halebop is a brand of TeliaSonera Sweden but acts as an independent MVNO on the Swedish market. The brand was launched in 2000 and has offered prepaid mobile telephony services since 2002.
Symsoft's Charging System has fully met our demands for quick configura-bility and rapid deployment of new services. As an example, in a recent campaign enabled by the Symsoft Charging System, subscribers were given an incentive to top up their accounts by giving away 3000 text messages at account refill, thus decreasing the churn rate.
